The fur cap version with lug and slider is a first for me. No doubt it is genuine however. Very nice lot.

Not sure about these C on the second could be add or reattached looks to have a scar or blemish where a lug would be fixed

Slider?
Has the slider on the fur cap grenade been soldered on as a replacement for the bottom loop?

Hello CB and Rob I think the best answer is a better picture
IMG_20210109_175704.jpg It looks as if that's how it's made no sign in the bowl of the grenade of lug remains |

Loops and sliders
The Royal Artillery beret badges had loops and a slider, so it's fair to say others had the same, possibly as a special order.

The RA badges were 1950's so many decades later.
If the slider is original then it may not be for the fur cap at all. The slidered HPCs and Fusiliers grenades were made for the Foreign Service Helmets in Edwardian times. They do not seem to have ever been taken up into use mind you as no photo exists of them on a FSC. |

I have been noting over the years that the grenades supposedly intended for the FSH are of a different design than that of the fur cap grenades, but as Alan mentioned, they don't seem to have been worn as such.
It seems that any badge with a long slider (or a slider where normally lugs are used) is by default a Pagri badge. Anyway, the RF grenade in question is not one of these in my opinion, and seems to be the proper type for the fur cap. I think it is just a very unusual fixing for this purpose. But then again, I don't quite see how it would be affixed to the fur cap, nor on the FSH for that matter. CB
