Default Help needed with research

Hello everyone,

Maybe an unnecessary question, but did South African officers below the rank of Colonel wear their regimental peaked cap while in the field?

I've attached an example below of an engineer officer with his peaked cap, but I'm not 100% sure if the uniform he's wearing is the regular khaki drill officers bush jacket, due to the collar badges.
