Good badge Jerry, with desirable maker's mark.

Thanks for showing; is it for sale?

Thanks William.

Not for sale, I only recently added it to my staybrite collection.

I have been trying to collect some examples of earlier badges rather than the commonplace I started with.

There are a few I would really like to get, parachute by grove for instance.

Thanks Paul. You're right - I should be far more assiduous in these things, but I... No. I'll make no excuses for my lack of diligence towards my own collection!

Pls save the next one for me.

And thanks again for your comment.

thanks Mark.....I think.

funnily enough I missed one in the classifieds in the last year or so, gone before I saw it.

I can't remember what but at about the same another badge I really wanted sold before I saw it.

It happens, I will just keep an eye out.

Jerry, oddly one of my favourites, this pattern worn until 1958. Also found made by Gaunt (London) and there is a belt plate badge too. Note there are x2 variations of lugs for the 1st pattern collars as well differing shape of green backing ( presumably Bn indicators?)

Regards all

Bess

Default The Green Howards

This article, published in Soldier Magazine in early 1970, indicates that the 1950 pattern badge was worn briefly in 1969-1970 when the Yorkshire Brigade badge was taken down and pending the approval and issue of the XIX badge. The history is covered in detail in “No Bull” by Chris Marsh.
