Default Well Done Indeed

Thought the young men carrying Her Majesty's coffin today did a splendid job. Well done and thank you.

It reminds me of the poor lad who broke his ankle carrying Churchill's coffin - but carried on....

I fully endorse the comments above, but one question. There was a WO1 and I presume Scots Guards immediately following the hearse. What was his appointment/function given that the RRS and Royal Company of Archers were providing all Guards of Honour and escorts?

He was referred to as the Garrison Sergeant Major (Edinburgh?) on one programme I was watching.

However I am unsure why he was not wearing the large Royal Arms badge on his upper arm rather than the smaller Royal Arms on his lower arm if he was a GSM?

Anyone assist?

regards

Isn't that only for London District ?

GSM LONDIST : Large Royal Arms superimposed on 4 chevrons on upper right forearm.

RSM of Ft Guards Bn and Superintendent Clerk LONDIST : Large Royal Arms on upper right forearm.

Other Warrant Officers Class 1 : Royal Arms on lower right forearm
