Hello,
I am new to this site. I have a great button (my favourite) but can't find a thing about it. The initials are R.A.R.E (try looking that up and all that comes back is 'rare' button, haha). It is a QVC and and 1 1/16" across. The crown has a black painted cross in the centre. Made by Firmin & Sons LD. Any help would be greatly appreciated! ![]() Thanks! |

How about "RA & RE"? Perhaps a Mess Staff button from the current RE Mess at Chatham when it was briefly a joint Gunner and Sapper Officers' Mess. They still have on display a few bits of RA/RE crockery from those days long ago.

Sorry, I was wrong, but on the right lines.
It is from The Shop - the Royal Military Academy Woolwich when it trained Gunner and Sapper Gentlemen Cadets. Pre 1901, worn by mess staff. |
