Default Argyll & Sutherland and King's Shropshire Light Infantry

A couple more badges on which comments would be appreciated.

The Argyll and Sutherland badge lacks fine detail on the front and the back. It is worn to the point the cat looks like a blob. I searched through posts on the forum and don’t think I saw two badges that were the same.

The KSLI badge, at the very least, has had the slider replaced. A previous post mentioned gold coloured solder as a good indicator of authenticity which is badge, obviously, lacks.

Both badges are originals.

The A&SH is well polished and the KSLI has a badly fitted replacement slider.

regards

Simon, thanks for your response. Sorry, it took so long to reply, I think I was waiting for other possible replies at the time I remember Sept. 2019 fondly. I could actually hang out with friends.

Agree 100%. For me, I would keep these. Soldiers often polished down their badges heavily (especially in the Guards) to get a better shine. I have several and they are among my favorites.
Sliders and lugs were often broken as well. Armourers or whomever would fix them up, but of course there is no telling if it was done while in service or by a collector.

The Argyll's is actually quite a pleasing example, even with the wear.

CB and KF, thanks for adding to this thread. It is good to hear that other members like a badge which balances the "look for a replacement."

The way I view a thread that gets only one post saying a badge is authentic or not is that others are in agreement.
