Default WO2 rank badge??????

Hello,

This badge was part of a medal lot auction win, many years ago now, but I'm positive this is Army and, consequently, not related to the RAF medals I won.

I've always assumed it's a WO2 rank badge but, as for the era, have no idea.

I was, therefore, wondering if any kind forum member could enlighten me on what it most likely is and from what period.

Many thanks in advance.

Regards.

John.

Regimental Quarter Master Sergeant Majors badge. It's Kings crown period. Not sure when these badges were adopted, but now worn with a Queens crown.

Between 1940 and 1946 the wreath and crown was the rank badge of the WOII (Company Sergeant Major) as the CSM's pre-war crown had been passed to the new rank of WOIII as an emergency measure.

Many thanks Jon,

Very much appreciated. My granddad was given A/WOII in WW2. I have his original PWV cap badge (although the slider is missing) so may well add this to his collection.

Kind regards.

John.
