Default Metal Detector Find - Georgian or William IV?

Good day

A local metal detectorist gave me this. I think it is either horse furniture or possibly a cross belt/pouch badge. The pale parts are what is left of the gilding so I'm assuming an officer's badge.

I can't work out the cypher. DGLV perhaps. Any ideas? Duke of Something Something Volunteers??

Many thanks

James

OMG Tarabelle, I think you may have hit the nail on the head.

Duke of Gloucester's London Volunteers.

How extraordinary to find it in a field in Lancashire.

Many thanks for taking the time to find the article and for posting.
