Canada Badge
This small badge came with an estate lot of other CEF items. It is patterned after the General List cap badge. It measures 28mm either way at its widest point. There was no evidence of any fasteners to the rear, no maker marks or Sterling marks. It appears brass that the silver coating has worn off. The two small holes I suspect were drilled so the item could have been sewn on. It is of good quality, die struck and nice enamelling.
The question is...were these ever used as officer collars? |

I have one just like it with a pinback. Being enameled, my thought is sweetheart badge. The two holes could be and are most likely to affix to a chain, making this a necklace/pendant.

There is a really good thread on Cdn General List badges, with examples of various types and I have a photo of a couple chains/necklaces using the GL badge motif (much smaller than your example, but similar drilled holes.)

Hi
I really think these were just sweetheart brooches, maybe sewn on by the loved one, not soldier or officer bAdges. All the best Dan |
