Default Toronto Scottish battle honour?

The designs and symbols on the badges in our collections are part of the fascination with collecting. Sometimes, an element of a design is not understood. Such was the case for me and the Toronto Scottish cap badge. The design reflects the unicorn of the 75th Bn CEF which in turn took that from the 9th Mississauga Horse. It was imposed upon the maple leaf which in turn was imposed upon the Cross of St. Andrew. However the dates in the annulus, which look like a battle honour are not. Belgium / France 1915-1919 are a commemoration of the service of the battalions perpetuated by the Toronto Scottish but are not an official battle honour.
