Default General rank metal cap badge

Dear all,

I was wondering if this metal cap badge has been seen during the WW2? Or only prior? I did not manage to find it worn during this era. Some said to me it could have been used on pith helmets and/or slouch hats?

Thanks,

AATTV

I think (mind you that is dangerous...) that metal badges were primarily earlier than ww2, but I am sure some were use during that time as well.
