Default Territorial Army Cap Badges 1978

Hi, Tried a google search but it thew up confusing results, so hopefully someone can give me a clearer answer please? Does anyone have a list of Territorial Army units that had their own individual cap badge, that was not worn by regular army units, for the time frame of 1978?

Regards

Tony

I may be wrong, but assume that they either wore the same badge as one of the regulars, or one of the former Brigade badges.

While this list goes until 1975, there weren't much changes until 1978.
The volunteer Battalions from 1971 to 1975

The Staffordshire Yeomanry did not wear their "own" cap badge in 1978; as B (Staffs Yeo) Squadron of the Queen's Own Mercian Yeomanry we wore the QOMY cap badge with Staffs Yeo collar badges (with red felt behind the Staffordshire knot). (And we had been the "Queen's Own" - not just Mercian Yeomanry - since 1973).

Thanks for the correction. I was using Edwards sixth edition which, although published in 1974, contains a certain amount of speculative information concerning TAVR unit which were being reformed during the early 70s from cadres or reorganised under new unit titles. It is possible that some of the other Squadron size units were wearing a Regimental cap badge by 1978.

Not sure whether this meets your brief as it is a variation of a regular pattern, but this beret badge was introduced in 1978 for the Essex Yeomanry.

The ICCY and Berkshire Yeomanry signal squadrons also did the same with green and light blue backgrounds respectively.
