Default 1940s Canadian Garrison Battalion Badges

Fantastic badges, but check out the prices!! I initially thought that the seller was asking $5,500 for the lot. Wow.

They look good, finding a matched set of collars is nice, but the price, wow.

Pretty sure I'm going to pass on adding that one to my collection - Yep, I'm sure!!! I doubt my whole collection is worth that much!

It's official,

The Canadian Garrison Battalion Officer's badge sold this last week from a Calgary dealer, for over $10,000 Canadian.

The value of our "military ephemera" collections keep increasing, as does the cost of gasoline, cars, houses and food.

That badge - were it to be re-sold any time soon - would be valued at around $12,000.00

As a collector of WWII Allied insignia, I have to say the most expensive badges I have acquired to date were both Canadian. But then both were for obscure sought after units, so I can live with it!

Cheers……John

Mike McMahon (Arctic Medals) has one for sale on his web site, and I have just noticed that Bosley's has one for sale in their on-line auction on the 27th Sep (Lot 164, Estimate £400-£600 + commission).

As an aside, there is quite a large amount of Canadian badges in Bosley's sale, but unfortunately none that I am after. However, I'm sure this sale will whet the appetites of some keen post WW1 Canadian collectors!!

Default Bosleys Sale of Plastic Garrison Badge

I see this badge sold for £700, or $1,160Cdn. Add the commission at 26.4% and that'll take the cost before P&P to £884.8 or $1,466Cdn. That's the scarcity of this badge :eek

On the other hand there were a number of bargains (IMHO) to be had for any Canadian collectors who were following the sale. 'Swings and roundabouts'.
