Default unknown formation sign

Curious if anyone has information regarding this patch? Unfortunately I don't have a picture of the back yet. It seems WWII vintage to me but it's just a guess.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best,
Chris

From the design and the method of manufacture I would say it is definitely not British (of any era) and almost certainly not US made. Just possibly post-World War 2 Spanish or Italian?
