Default SBS Badge on eBay (Vongold!)

There is an SBS Badge on eBay by the creative Mr. Vongold! Looks to have had lugs (N/S) removed and it has been glued(?) onto something. I also note that it appears to have a number on the back of it under the glue.

Link here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SBS-speci...S/303507215370

Will be interesting to see what this goes for and I note it has been listed for less than 24 hours and already has 12 bids from 8 parties taking it to £161 currently.

Ouch !

....I can only imagine what the SBS one will go for given the one that went through Bosley's recently - hence the reason for posting (also think its useful to record some of these here as they will undoubtedly resurface in years to come)

I didn't save the link, but exactly the same pattern of 'repro' badge was sold on ebay last week stuck to a cigarette case, but came with a real Cdo shoulder title and a real painted dagger patch, just to make it all more convincing....
I think the badges are heavily distressed versions of the ones Mike Jackson had made for veterans

I saw that and was going to mention it but I removed it from my watched list. What did it sell for? Believe starting price was £150. The box and badge looked quite distressed as you say. The build up of ‘muck’ around the edge of the badge and box looked pretty convincing.

He has a "nice" Chindit group too, complete with Chindit map. What he doesn't seem to know is that the only Chindits who were anywhere near Rangoon were P.O.W.s in Rangoon Jail. The map is dated September 1945 by which time the war was over and the Chindits had been long disbanded.

Link for that box here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RARE-amp-...-/372966966293 and it went for £206

Interesting, the one on the cigarette box does appear to be the same pattern as the career criminal vongold's. However, they have marked differences to the copy I thought they were based on and (fortunately) originals

I cant quite tell on the box one, but the same feature on the other SBS one and suspect WW2 ARP badges being sold by the same seller a few weeks back, is the stippled back on the badge such a surface is also discernable beneath the enamel on the front of the SBS one. I suspect the two scars will be from a pin and its c-clasp as they have a very small footprint on the badge.

Thanks Paul ... and for pointing out the D Troop example I posted above ...
It really is getting to the stage where someone is going to get badly burned.

Cool Fakes

Someone once said "beware of the dealer who consistently has rare items for sale" sound advice I think.

If they were patient they could have bought the real one listed on ebay last night, but quickly withdrawn and sold off line after the usual stealer dealers pounced
