Default Liverpool Pals Silver

Hi, I am looking to canvas some opinion on this one, the BIN Liverpool Pals hallmarked cap badge example currently on Ebay?
This guy has a less then exemplary Ebay record, but has anyone bought one of these from him and been unhappy with it? I know what I think about it and have read the previous forum posts.
Thanks Gary

A case of "the boy who cried wolf "perhaps. If you have a reputation for selling s---t, then collectors are going to be very suspicious when you offer an item that might be right.

Hi Simon,
I'm a bit of a techno phobe the item number is 311651303368, not sure how you do the full link. I'd be interested if anyone has bought one and would be willing to have it looked at.

Hi Peter,
Do you think it's right? I think the casting is not to Elkington standards.
Thanks Gary

Hi,
Its item number 311651303368, but I'm no good at links, techno phobe. Do you think it's right Peter? I just remember a year or so ago that people were doubting the Chester ones.
Thanks Gary

I agree with Peter, while it does 'appear' good, and probably assayed chester, (although the hallmarks are not very clear), how would you ever be 100% sure with this guy? He makes a living deceiving and cheating people.

Cheers, Tim

It is very reasonable price for what looks genuine but I suppose you have to balance the risk, at the end of the day if you pay through PayPal and it is fake you get your money back and you can report him to TS the other problem is integrity on wether you want to line the pockets of a serial purveyor of fake badges.
I would not buy it for that reason

Gary,

Sorry I did not reply to your earlier question, it does look OK from the pictures and as has been said by Paul, the price is reasonable for a genuine example, I don't think I personally would take the risk as it might just be a better class of copy.

I was the Shrewsbury Antiques Centre yesterday, a place well known for military badges unfortunately 90% plus of which are duds. I am pretty sure that amongst the hundreds of duds there may be a few genuine items but I think you tend to tar all the stock on display with the same brush.

If in doubt..........don't !!

Peter

Thanks everyone for your input, sorry if my replies were a tad jumbled, I wasn't sure I had posted a reply and you got two similar replies. Hopefully this guy will struggle to sell it but sadly I don't think he will. Gary

Personally I don't like it, and if it is a copy/restikefake no ones going to do anything about it as it's not a £10,000 silver tea pot for Lord&Lady so and so just a shitty old army badge that no body could give a stuff about
