I call him Mr. 88 as I first noticed him when his feedback score was that (88), albeit it’s up to 97 now at time of writing.

Often I watch lots of badges on eBay, many out of my league, just out of curiosity and to see where they end up and I noticed said feedback score popping up on items that went big… very big.

He was an underbidder on ‘candarock5455’ EviiiR RHA which caused a furore selling for £395.

Underbidder on the £335 Guards Machine Gun Regiment also discussed in a thread on 12/11.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403279026...app-cvip-panel

The winner of the mystery Coldstream Guards badge in my thread at £520 on 25/11
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154702020...app-cvip-panel

Same night underbidder again on this Black Watch NCOs which sold for £517 !!!
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154701969...app-cvip-panel

Bounced back and won this one for just £104 on 22/11.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175023847...app-cvip-panel

Then paid £114 for this Lambourne marked Cheshire Yeomanry 28/11 !!!
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/144300155...app-cvip-panel

(… I have 3 of these so if you’re reading Mr. 88 and fancy a spare, call me)

Now the above South Lancs plastic. No it’s not worth what it’s currently at, nor were most of the above.

A new collector on the block perhaps? But certainly a man of means.

And a coincidence that 3 of those badges were the topic of threads on here?

2 days to go? You've still got a chance then, go on, go for it?

My last point was me gently alluding that he may be a member or at least reading threads.

As to the money, if it’s no object and you want an item, then why not.

In most cases someone new to the hobby not on here would (most of the time) be unawares and end up buying repros for a fraction of the cost. Whereas he seems well informed and has picked some nice items.

Of course it could just be a new account for an experienced collector but the prices suggest otherwise.

It still doesn’t explain the under bidders though?

I agree Simon. It takes two to tango at auction, are these listings where someone puts a crazy must win bid which would previously never go to the wire.

Such bids may go on regularly but without someone to test them they’d sell at a normal price.

Checking it seems to be a different winner or underbidder most times, the common denominator is Mr 88.

Couple I forgot, albeit £84 is dear for a 5L it’s not totally bonkers and the 1st Edinburgh City Royal Artillery shoulder title may even have been a bargain for £79!

Well if he is a member on the Forum I think I have a spare one of these (think mind you!) So if you get beat drop me a P.M.

I should also add - "advice" if he is delving into Plastic Economy badges as have found a few pitfalls!

Leigh think I will give this one a miss! All the best billy
