Hi, sorry have confused two similar dies. I have a white-metal version from this die which I suspect, also three badges showing various degrees of voiding.

There is no record of it in the RTR history although it appears in some fairly disreputable dealers stock on ebay. Fantasy piece I believe.

It's like the white metal 20th Hussars that done the rounds a few years back - another OR's badge that was only ever in brass. ??
Cheers, Nigel.
Hi, both the silver and white-metal versions I think are suspect. The officers' bronze I can't make my mind up about it, but the balance of probability is that it is duff. Unless you know otherwise?

My bronze badge certainly is a funny one, it was sold to me as OSD by a reputable dealer. I showed it to two other collectors one thought the badge had been stored in such conditions to give it that chocolate brown appearance, another thought it might be an OR's badge that had been finished for use as an officers badge. I even explored the possibility of this badge being made in Canada. I say this because the Canadian Machine Gun Corps produced an almost identical badge to the British MGC with lugs.

I have scowered fairs and Ebay since 1997 to find another like it, I have had no success.

The one thing I really like about this badge is the high relief of the tank and the fact it has been rounded for wear on a cap.

As for the Lincs Yeo I`ll give them justice in their own thread in a few days time, complete with three different collars worn during the very brief history of the regiment.

Toby,

If that badge is genuine then I am a Dutchman. Look at the rubbish rear stamping, the lugs, the awful colour of the metal. A wartime ORs badge with a plaque like that is very unlikely. That type of Gaunt plaque has been appearing on fake Canadian badges as well - there is a thread on the Canada section.

Did it look something like this one? Purchased this many years ago but have never got to bottom of it. Bronze badge with silver tank retained on pins. Lovely item.

Hi, if it measures under 4 cm then it's a cast of the Gaunt bronze, there are a gilt, gilt with silver tank and possibly this type. They all came out in the seventies and eighties, look really good. It was only when I got into measuring them that I realised what they were. Hope this helps with identifying it.

should answer some questions here?
Lugs ,no sweat holes, bad back definition (OR's struck type)
Front looks great though !!
Think start price shows that the Vendor is aware of it's parentage .

Cheers !
