Default US marked webbing belt ?

Picked up a pair if US pistol belts this morning, one I left as found the other I cleaned off the verdigris, the seller said they were new old stock found at the former US base at RAF Burtonwood.
Can anyone help with dating these items the markings aren't that clear I'm afraid.
Any help very welcome.
Cheers Tony.

Hello tonyb,
Seeing the FSN (Federal Stock Number) on the belt tells me it cannot be any older than 1955 when the system was implemented and U.S. webbed equipment stamped accordingly.

Thanks Jim , so I assume they could be Vietnam War era? I recall US Army or could gave been Air force trucks loaded with troops driving through Warrington on a visit in the early seventies.
I should explain Warrington is the next big town to Burtonwood.
Regards Tony.

Hey Tony, those type of belts were on issue to us in the Australian Army during the 1970s as part of the M1956 pattern of webbing which had begun to be issued to us during the 1960s, purchased from the USA I believe.

That particular pattern of belt was useless, after a little wear the eyelets began to pull up through the horizontal webbing of the belt. Another type of belt in which the web ran vertically was a much better wearing item, I think mine's still floating around downstairs, and that got a fair bit of use, in and out of the service.

G'day Tony

The last of my English family lived in Warrington and died out Circa 1894. And I visited Warrington when in the UK in 1978.

Regards

Phil.

Keith that's interesting I assume they were worn without the US stamp being applied.
Phil I think you'd find much has changed, of you went back now, as with most towns.
Cheers Tony.
