Default Gurkha Officers Cross Belt

Hi All
I picked this up recently for what I consider a very good price, which is why I bought it and thought I'd show it off. It is hallmarked and I believe I am correct in saying it is Birmingham 1908, unless I have made a mistake in my dating. It is beautifully made, and even every link on the chain has a silver mark. Unfortunately the whistle is missing. The leather itself is not just a thick strip but is very thin, folded back and stitched down the middle.
I have not been able to id the maker, ES & S, so if anyone can tell me who it was, I'd appreciate it.
Cheers,
Alex

Alex,

Very nice, you do see whistles for sale on their own every now and then, I will let you know if I see one.

( This is a whistle and holder but it does show they do come up for sale:

Very nice, worn 1907-1953. As said the whistles can be picked up cheaply.

Regards
Steve

I think you're right on the date, 1908. A hallmark site has that as possibly a London maker but not unusual for items to be sent to different proof houses for marking, shows 'Edward Stilwell & Son'

Hi Lee
Thanks for that, I think you found it. I was looking at Birmingham makers. Interesting that it shows 1910 in the dates seen column, so perhaps the earlier dates for this maker are more unusual.
Cheers,
Alex
