Default RTR Piper's Plaid Brooch

I recently picked up this little beauty in a trade - a Royal Tank Regiment Piper's Plaid Brooch.

Now has become one of my favourite badges.

Just need to find a Sergeant Piper's plaid brooch now to go with it (crossed machine guns).

Enjoy!

Mick

Mick, that's a very nice plaid brooch, thanks for showing it.

Is there actually photographic evidence that this was worn post 1939 by the Royal Tank Regiment, if so, I would certainly be interested to see it, I would have thought it was only worn by the Tank Corps and perhaps post 1924, by the Royal Tank Corps for a short period of time.

It rates a mention in Robin Hodges’s badge book but no picture of it being worn.

I am on the RTR Pipes and Drums FB page so might send them a message and see what they can tell me about it.

The RTR have always been proud of their badge and motto, I'd be very surprised if it had ever been worn by them, excepting odd men who had their twenty odd years in and who had perhaps retained their original brooch, notwithstanding, I'd be keen to see actual proof.

The author is a member of this forum, it's possible that a PM may result in more information about this brooch.

I've sent a message to the RTR Pipes and Drums about these plaid brooches and will share any response I get.

I think they were worn by 4RTR.

Here's a picture of one of their current plaid brooches.
