Identification Help please!
A member of the Military Heraldry Society is trying to identify this badge.
He has been told it represents the Hindu god Hanuman defending India with a knife in one hand and the island of Ceylon/Sri Lanka ready to throw in the other hand. Suggestions please. Jon |

My first thought when I saw it was of Hanuman. He was a mighty monkey warrior and the faithful servant of Rama. He fought with Rama in the war against Ravana and his demons to rescue Sita, Rama's wife, that Ravana had taken.

Am surprised though that Hanuman is used in a military patch! Which country? |

This doesn't ring any bells with me, not that that means much at my advanced age, but I agree that the use of hanuman in a military context seems a bit unusual. It is a puzzlement!

On the assumption that it is Hanuman that is being portrayed on the badge, it would be fair to say that it must have been worn in a nation that has a hindu population. Candidates obviously include India and Nepal, but there are or were hindu states in Indionesia, and large hindu populations in Sri Lanka, Singapore and Malaysia.
