John

I think that this post (the one with the 5 different versions) relates to the mapel leaf special distinction and not the NCO's armbadge. At least that is how I read it.

Default Mapel leaf

The mapel leaf was never produced in bronze. The early badges were silver/WM ? with blade fittings, and later sow on A/A.

Hi Didier,

Afraid I don't know the answer but that badge certainly has a lot of character. I really like it

Hello Didier,

This pattern was worn prior to and during the great war. A smaller badge designed for wear on the beret was used in WWII. A visual difference for the latter is that there is no gap between the back of the neck and the top of the wing.

Regards,

Garry

Default NORTH IRISH HORSE

Now go easy on me chaps, but wanted some opinions on this one. Took a chance and hoped a good decision. I can send it back if not a good one.

Regards
Simon.

Hi Tony, yes; I did notice the scrolls on the one in the galleries are voided as you at least one. I took a chance on this one as I hoped maybe a makers variation. Let's see any other comments. I've spotted another one that looks good so if I send this back I';ll take the other I've seen. Been after this one for some time.....

Cheers

Simon.

Hi Simon,

I have seen many different forms of ' bronzed ' badges over the years and I know there are also many variations of brass but this is the first ' mustardised ' badge I have seen, is it really the colour as seen in the photograph ??.......

Any time Tony.

Dave.

Hi Dave, when it turns up I;ll take better shots that may show a different colour than the pic shown.

Cheers

Simon.

Hi I hope you don,t mind me putting these to you whilst this thread is still rolling! two NIH brass which must refer to small beret no markings, makers names or such and a W/M collar? looking at the rear fixing! hope these pass muster and as I don,t have the larger size of this badge and would obviously like one! if any-one has the larger going spare & missing the smaller size perhaps we might exchange? cheers billy

Loving the thread some great badges to a great wee regiment, which now only survives as 2 squadrons B Squadron Queens Own Yeomanry and 69 (NIH) Signal Squadron.
I have some bits and pieces from the Squadrons. Starting with my rank badges.
First Rank badge is white medal, got from a member of 69(NIH) Sig Sqn
Second is a bronzed brass
Third one is Anodised medal

Pictures of a NIH Sig Sqn No2 FAD dress jacket showing the Rank badge and the Mable leaf battle honour and NIH Collar dogs.
