Default Is there a popular British Militaria forum you would recommend?

Hi Guys,

I am just curious if there is a forum dedicated strictly to British Militaria, either WWII or multiple wars that you would recommend?

I know a few other forums have British Militaria sections, but I've not found one solely dedicated to Great Britain and the Commonwealth besides this one, but it's only badges (not that there's anything wrong with badges ).

Thanks

John

I don't think there is John, as you say there are plenty of forums with British sections, I can't think of an exclusively British one. I tend to hang about on gmic, allied militaria and here and between the three just about manage

Hello John

I agree with Alli, I don't think you will find a forum for 'British Militaria' as such. There are sites for badges, swords, wireless equipment, military vehicles, WWI, WWII and so on but 'militaria' seems to be too general a subject to warrant a forum by itself.

Also if there was, I can imagine, as here, it would have to "dip" into militaria from other nations, nature of the beast so to speak with militaria.

You "hang about" on GMIC, given what the "G" bit stands for, is that allowed?

I checked to make sure I was allowed to given a certain lack of equipment on my part and was assured the Gentleman of the title referred to it being less aggressive than other forums and not to the exclusion of lady persons such as myself.
I must admit the title is a bit off putting to military minded women but if you get past that they are a good bunch and the posts are fascinating. I highly recommend.

Oh okay, I was once asked to join by a friend, but, I declined and cited the "G" bit as a reason simply because in the accepted meaning, I felt I might well fall a little short, it does sound rather ostentatious.

Agreed Frank it does.
I know a couple of women through the Great War Forum who won't go near it because of the title and I do understand why. But as I say if you can get past that it's a fantastic resource and actually there are quite a few more women on there than here, but obviously this is a more specialist site and there aren't a huge amount of women collecting badges.
But for broader military topics and militaria it is a great site regardless of gender

There is this forum, which is mostly WWII but has a section for earlier or later periods and does a allow a very small amount of related German etc WWII to be posted, though like here some there complain when it is posted.

ww2talk.com

Also period based forums exist, such as the great war forum, Boer war forum, Victorian wars forum, also one for the Napoleonic wars whose name escapes me at this time etc..
Otherwise forums such as WAF, War Relics forum and Historical War Militaria Forum all have active Allied sections but also cover the Dark side.
