Scots Guards red-backed rank chevrons
The attached BD is being offered on a well-known auction site,
Can anyone explain the red backing to the chevrons? Is this a known Guards custom or peculiar to the Scots Guards or does it signify something particular? Or is it just a made up item - which I doubt. I have run this past the Guards Museum who can shed no light on it so over to the Forum's members... Jon |

Hello
Those are the type of chevrons we wore in the Junior Guardsmans Company (later Junior Guardsmans Wing) at the Guard's Depot Pirbright in the early 1970's on both BD & No2 Dress, but the London District formation badge was not worn by us Boy soldiers in that period.
