Default Lincolnshire Regiment 'RP' armlet

Looking through my Dad's photos from his time in the Middle East (1947-50) again last night & I came across a shot of one of his mates wearing a Regimental Provost armlet. Unlike the usual ones I've seen before, though, which are made wholly of fabric, this one has what appear to be metal letters attached to a fabric arm-band (with a cap badge between the two letters) - was this common practice (and if so, were the letters mass-produced), or is this likely to be something made-up locally by the unit concerned?

Cheers,
Kevin

These continue to this day to be regimentally produced. There is a huge variety across regts with a mixture of components on brassards, arm badges, cloth and metal, with and without badges, in a multitude of colours..

The only issued item is Red RP letters stitched on a Dark Blue Armband, but as already stated many local variations exist with and without regimental badges. Now even on Rank Slides or velcro panels on MTP combat dress.

Default Royal Lincs armband

Hi Kevin,

Here is a pic of my late father in Germany in 1946 with the Royal Lincolnshire regiment on policing duties and note the two different armbands in use here. As Alan says a variety were in use. Similarly I have a lugged DLI cap badge that was worn as an arm badge within the Berlin circle shoulder flash.

Lots of variations, thanks for sharing.

Cheers Dean
