Black Watch?
Forum member Marsden should be the man for this one.
He shows similar here, but with a pewter sphinx:

Rosettes of that style were worn by several Imperial Yeomanry units on the slouch hats typical of mounted troops serving in the campaign. The 2nd Battalion Lincs saw service there. It is unlike Helmet Plate or Glengarry centres for the Lincolnshire regiment. The South Wales Borders have a Sphinx of the same pattern and their 2nd Battalion also saw service in the Boar War. The Lincolnshire Regiment did wear brass Sphinx collar badges at some point and there is a pair in my Lincs album. Will think on, nice item but have my doubts on being Lincs, cheers Dean.

I agree that this looks to be a Black Watch officer's badge and rosette for the feather bonnet.
