RPC medal
I recently bought a Territorial medal, GviR to 3958913 Pte GH Roberts RPC, now the AMPC, PC and RPC never had any Territorial units as far as I know.
Happy to be put right on this. Rob |

Rob, the RPC had both TAVR and TA units, with the latter continuing right through into the RLC era. Sadly they were finally disbanded or re-roled when the pioneer function was abandoned (literally and shamefully) by the RLC as part of a defence cuts 'deal' within the MOD.

Glad to help, Rob. Lt Col (Retd) John Starling has created a database for all Pioneers and Labour Corps and would be able to tell you your man's units and general history. He can be contacted via the pioneers website.

The number on the medal is from the sequence issued to the Welch Regiment which suggests that your man was originally a Welch Regt territorial who ended up in the RPC as the Efficiency Medal naming usually reflected the last regiment or Corps served with and not the soldier's original Corps or regiment.
If you can track down the Welsh Regiment's enlistment registers once held by the Army Medal Office, they should be able to confirm both enlistment and transfer. Jon |

Looks like he will provide such a service for "family history research" purposes but doesn't wish to for "medal collectors".

Yes, I think that is indeed the case.
