Howard,

I don't have a picture but from memory the badge in question is the QDG title with a wreath around it surrounded by a crown. Worn in the beret with combats.

Default QDG Badge

Hi Alan

No mate, I'm sorry but you are mistaken. The QDG Arm Badge is just that, an Arm Badge and has never been worn in the beret. The only badge worn in the beret is the double headed eagle...... Cant think where you might have got the idea that there was any other badge!?

He was the Cpl accompanying my mate who was commanding the QDG squadron on TELIC 1 in 2003. They were in Scimitars and came up to 7 Bde HQs which was waiting to move into Basra. I am not mistaken as I was talking to all 4 of them outside their CVR(T). I have known Matthew since 2000 and he is definately QDG.

Default QDG Arm Badge

Hi again Alan

I was on Telic 1 too with C Sqn attached to 3 Cdo Bde as the Bde liaison Officer. I also know Botty very well too.... I can tell you now mate without fear of contradiction.... whatever that Cpl was wearing in his beret it was definately not the QDG Arm badge... Ask Botty maybe he knows what it was all about! If he had have been wearing the 'Badge' as we in the QDG call it, the RSM would have skinned hm alive...... God knows what it was you saw or which regiment he was in but QDG Arm Badge it was not!! lol.....

Howard,

I will drop him a line and see if he remebers the chap. It was definately not the standard cap badge. I remember it quite clearly as Botty was wearing his helmet with no cloth cover and looked like a scarecrow (as ever) but his chaps had their berets with them.

Not yet. I was away for the last 2 weeks and rang Matthew yesterday and he is out of office again. He is over here for a Druids Dance in 2 months so i will try and catch up with him in person.

Sorry about that - It seems the names of the picture files have not come out so.... the first pair are what i understand as white metal. Both cast. The second pair are chromed and the third pair silvered....
