British South Asian Volunteers during the XIX Century
Can anyone help me finding any information about the dress of some British South-Asian corps? I have been seraching for a long time, and still haven't found anything.
The following corps are the ones whose uniforms I'd like to know more: Singapore Volunteer Infantry Singapore Volunteer Corps Singapore Volunteer Rifles (Specially their 1857 Uniform) Straits Settlements Police Penang Volunteers If any of you could help, I'd be immensily grateful. |

Try "A History of the Singapore Volunteer Corps 1854-1937 , being also an Historical Outline of Volunteering in Malaya" - by Captain TM "Winsley SVC, published in 1938 (Singapore).

You chaps never cease to amaze me with the arcane information that you can dredge up on any subject. My specialist subject would probably be 'What I done on me holiday'.
