Hi Guys,
I'm going to group the pages here under one thread to help with administration. Web pages that I intend to display will be grouped as follows: CAVALRY http://picasaweb.google.com/hagwalth...ey=5w-b339c9GA GUARDS http://picasaweb.google.com/hagwalth...ey=JYhWzNFchNk YEOMANRY http://picasaweb.google.com/hagwalth...ey=c2rYevsm9To INFANTRY http://picasaweb.google.com/hagwalth...ey=wDIhHRRAbS4 BRIGADES http://picasaweb.google.com/hagwalth...ey=Hb3h0O4FRTo CORPS http://picasaweb.google.com/hagwalth...ey=dzo3OpgZS_U SPECIALIST UNITS http://picasaweb.google.com/hagwalth...ey=xraWXWO5_aI GURKHAS http://picasaweb.google.com/hagwalth...ey=IYzbLYf7NCg INDEPENDENT DEPARTMENTS http://picasaweb.google.com/hagwalth...ey=o5fX-J8EC9U TERRITORIAL UNITS http://picasaweb.google.com/hagwalth...ey=YgoBXv4vQWo OFFICER TRAINING CORP - UNIVERSITIES http://picasaweb.google.com/hagwalth...ey=HhlavAo8arE OFFICER TRAINING CORP - SCHOOLS http://picasaweb.google.com/hagwalth...ey=YRbWfvp8Kog HYBRID http://picasaweb.google.com/hagwalth...y=tuvJXA78i0w# Click on each badge for a fuller image with a badge description. As the pages are created there will be gaps where I do not own a badge but where one is known to exist. If any forum members wish to fill a gap then PM me. Best image is via a dedicated scanner (not a three in one item with printer etc) as these have good depth of field characteristics. 800 DPI images are best for this task. I use an Epson Perfection 4490 Photo and find it a nice piece of equipment. Failing this a photo with a sheet of A4 paper as a background should be fine. Best to take in natural light but in shadow if possible. I find a good sunny day inside and behind net curtains is good as is outside in the shade. I'm hoping to put these photos together into a book and am corresponding with my Third Reich collecting contacts and with a publishing house in New Zealand. As well as a record of all known staybrites I hope to include many other topics of interest to staybrite collectors. Please contact me if I have put badges in the wrong categories or have misnamed them etc. or if you have images to add. As stated before, staybrite badge collecting is not my main collecting focus being a hobby of a hobby (if you can have one) and this means my Regimental history knowledge is VERY narrow indeed so all help appreciated. Hi Chris,
I have what appears to be a NCO Gordon Highlanders staybrite although I am unsure if this is a commercially produced piece I found it interesting at the time of purchase. Have you ever heard of such a badge or know what it is? I could send you a couple pictures should you wish. Great thread/links and a very ambitious project I wish you all the best with this enterprise. Cheers, Luke |

Id like to have a look at them Luke if thats ok.As far as im aware the only difference in Gordons badges was slight differences in the scroll. "BY DAND" and "BYDAND" i think.I always thought NCO`s wore a cheaper version of the officers badge.

I'd be keen to have some photos. I'm looking for all staybrites and we can sub-group them out to issued, non-issues, commemorative, mistakes etc. later. Regards Chris |

Long awaited pic... Looking closely at the construction the lugs appear to be brazed which would suggest to me a base metal which has been plated but I'd like to hear peoples more informed views.
Cheers, Luke |

Chris let me know what holes youve got,and i`ll send them over to you.Im missing a few but not many.I think Lancs fusiliers,Somerset LI and West Yorks, obviously a few are of dubious origins. These ive marked as such.Im waiting for pictures of the Lancs and W.Yorks to arrive, these are believed to be 100% genuine.Unfortunately the Lancs is damaged near the grenade, but ive never seen another example in a collection or for sale

Hi Chris
Not sure AA badge are not really my thing, but it does not look like it has been painted, here is a Royal Pioneers badge with the same blackening at the back. Malc

Chris
I'm a new recruit to this site and as such am an anodised collector. I hve some of your 'gaps' and also have some very unusual and (what I believe) rare colours, slider - lug combinations etc. Its long been my belief that Peter Taylors book is not the all inclusive panacea that he would have you believe. Once I get sorted I should be able to assist you. |
