a very common KC royal artillery.....

but the first time i see one used like that , the guy is the king of the "brasso".....

is it possible that a soldier use a cap badge like this one in duty ???????

The quick answer is, Yes. My beret badge was almost flat.

Normally it was only during initial Training (square bashing) When you spent every evening with brasso and a lump of carboard....Later badges issued never quite received the same treatment!

I have a few badges that have obviously been buffed flat by mechanical means to save having to polish in all the fiddly places, maybe this had the same treatment.

Like many soldiers of my era (60's to 80's) we hated AA (Staybrite) badges, and used a brass or bi-metal badge instead, even though it meant having to clean it! I wore this badge for most of my career, cleaning it every day it was worn, and as you can see it has suffered. The top of the crown and one of the horse's front legs have fallen off. Compare it to the same badge but not worn or cleaned. If I were to sell my badge it would be worthless because of the wear and damage, but to me it is priceless!
