Default 4th (Kennington Park) Volunteer Bn, Queen's Regiment

A badge seldom seen, so I thought I'd share it with those interested!

Pre 1908 4th VB Queen's!

A beauty and so many parts which could be easily broken!

Andy

If it is Kennington Park shouldn't the Lamb's halo be an oval?

Superb badge by the way.

This was a badge I never thought I'd own then one came out of the blue. The 3rd VB is the hardest to get though.

Keith,
is the 3rd VB similar to the standard pattern?

Yes, 3rd VB The Queen's on the scroll but with double blades. All nickel.

I love the expression on the lamb's face. It's like, "Ew! What have I just stepped in?"

Heres a couple more Queens badges, two to the 4th VB helmet and Field service cap, a WM cap with 4 blades which I think is the 1st VB and a WM shoulder title. These are part of a small collection an elderly relative of mine has. He also has a 19th Surrey rifle Vol shako badge (two part consruction) which is GM, the ancestor unit of the 4th and a WM 10th Surrey Bermondsey R.V helmet plate

I am in the process of listing them before consigning them to Mr Bosley on his behalf. The 4th were actually based in New Street Kennington now Braganza St after the Queens. They become the 24th Londons. The drill hall still stands and I think it is a TA RAMC unit now.

Regards
Steve

The Queens cap badge is not right I am afraid. This is a 1VB badge.

I've no idea what it is then, it's white metal with two pairs of blades (four in all) on the rear, with the normal Queens scroll. there is also 2nd with "2nd VB THE QUEENS" on the scroll all in WM but the glengarry badge with it is brass with a WM lamb and 2nd VOLUNTEER BATTn WEST SURREY on it.
regards
Steve

I don't like it at all.

There are a large number of rustled sheep:

Having a look in the box there is a WM what I would call 'normal style QVC helmet plate in WM with a brass lamb and West Surrey, also a QVC glengarry again in reversed metals with West Surrey and a cross belt badge QVC in brass with a WM lamb two scrolls under the lamb, top one '1st Volunteer Battalion', bottom one 'The Royal West Surrey Regiment' it is of 3 part construction, with 4 screw posts on rear marked 'Hodson & Sons, lexington st, London W. Sadley the broken remains of another belt plate with the uppermost scroll reading '2nd Cadet Battalion' and another where the crown, lamb and 'Queens' have been cut out leaving just 2.VB 'gap' Regt' The exposed backing plate engraved 'Battersea and Wandsworth United Band'

Steve
