Rare 48th Highlander badge
I picked up this badge from a pal of mine to add to my collection, I believe it to be a drummers badge, a very unique badge due to it not being voided, I've never seen one, does any one know anything about it, have photos or references to this strike

I think I know who you got this from unless there are two of these kicking around. I did some research when I first saw this at the show. I was not able to find any information or even see it referenced, nor was I able to find an example at the 48th Highlander's museum.
It does look good to me, nice buy. |

Thank you "48th"
I have a good collection of Highland cap badges and amongst them 30 variations of 48th highlanders, I thought I saw one of these badges in a photo a long time ago but I can't remember where or when, if you ever do find anything on it, I would very appreciate if you could let me know, Cheers |

I will definitely will keep my eyes open for any other examples or information on this badge.
I have a fairly deep 48th Highlanders cap badge collection and have only seen (if you got it from the guy who had one for sale this year). Please let us know if you obtain any more information as well. |

Thanks for posting a picture of the back. Looks like it could have been made by Ellis?

Looking at the lugs, it does appear to be an Ellis type badge.

I also find this badge to be slightly bigger then it's cousins of the same era,

Do you mean the diameter? How much difference?

I only thought it by looking at it, that's why I sent the pic to compare, but since you mentioned it, I measured it, and it is actually 1mm larger in Dia.
