South Lancashire Gaunt OSD Collar

Another badge I'm a little confused over.

Whilst it's clearly marked with a Gaunt London stamp, it looks as though there is either some ghosting to this or some other writing underneath.

What's particularly confusing for me, is that I can see a clear letter W stamped beneath the Gaunt mark.

I cannot work out whether this is some form of factory QC mark or whether someone has stamped the Gaunt makers mark on top of a pre-existing makers mark?

Nothing wrong with that badge other than the price. Best to avoid getting too pedantic over markings.
