stringed horns
I have had these for some considerable time now and have been meaning to find out what they are for and possibly how old they are. Both have short screw posts.
They will possibly be for sale in the future. Thank you, Andrew Last edited by Nozzer; 30-11-23 at 08:21 PM. |

Bugles
Andrew, these are the pain of the badge collectors life, generic pouch badges worn by ? volunteer unit, I have one with a figure 1 inside the bugle and no idea who wore it.
Others may know and I will follow this thread with interest. Rob |

Non unit specific pouch badges worn mainly by RVC's, later VB's and many Colonial Units. Worn without a central number or as Rob says many times with, either attached or in somes cases separate best wishes

Hi Rob,
Whilst I wouldn't like to say on the two in the OP, your bugle with a '1' inside it could perhaps be to the First Cinque Ports RVC. I have a number of them in my CP album, if it helps. Kind Regards, Pete |

Bugles with "1"
Pete, having had a look at you CP albums my bugle with "1" in the middle is different to yours, not to say it was not worn by 1st Cinque Ports RVC but again it could have been worn by any 1st RVC and there were many of them.
If photographic evidence is available then this IMO is the only positive way of finding out who wore what bugle on a pouch. Rob |

Bugles with "1"
Herewith my bugle with "1". My apologies for the other bits and pieces along with it, there is a G/M bugle as well, with a QVC without a number.
While we are on the subject of unknown badges has anyone got any ideas about the large grenade on the right, it has two screw posts and a backplate. Help appreciated. Rob |

Rob, I misunderstood your post; when you said you had one with a '1' inside the bugle, I assumed you meant a stringed horn, as per Nozzer's OP, and Pete's ref to the First Cinque Ports RVC badge. Thanks for posting. JT |

The ‘Gothic’ MG in wreath on second row left is Australian I believe.

Gothic "MG"
Thanks Tim, it was a badge I put on my board some time ago and never researched it.
I will transport it to the colonies . . ! Rob |

Yes, it appeared in the 1st edition of "British Army Proficiency Badges" but identified as a colonial badge after publication.
