Default 1st Glamorgan Rifle Volunteer Rifle Corps

I was lucky enough to pick up the badge in the 1st photo at auction recently which adds another piece of the jigsaw into what this unit wore.

1. Officer's Silver Plate HP 1st GRVC circa 1880 - 1887. This one looks as though it has been re-plated at some time in the recent past and has a cheap modern replacement velvet centre backing.

2. Other Rank's HP 1st GRVC for the same period.

3. Other Rank' transitional HP for circa 1887 (this one is to the 2nd GRVC, which became the 3rd VB Welsh, but included to show the chronological sequence of patterns. If anyone has one to the 1st that is surplus to requirements please let me know). These were only worn for a short period.

4. Officer's Silver Plate HP 2nd Vol Battn Welsh circa 1890 - 1901.

5. Other Rank's HP 2nd VB Welsh same period.

6. OR's 2nd VB Welsh white metal cap badge circa 1898 - 1908.

Hope they're of some interest.

Hwyl fawr,

41st

Beautiful badges, especially the helmet stars surmounted with PoW feathers, I had never seen that before and did not know there was such a variation. Thank you for posting.
