I have the following:

Kenya Rifles-marked FIRMIN LONDON (has lugs)

Zambia Rifles-marked FIRMIN B'HAM LONDON (has lugs)

Tanzania Prisons-marked FIRMIN &SONS LONDON (has slider)

Hope they are of use.

Hi Dave,

Some overseas units are of interest to me but only those that were administered by the British Army. Some African units most certainly were but unfortunately not those that you have posted.

I am thankful though for this info and the effort you have taken.

Hi Dave,

I don't know who the Gibraltar Volunteer Corps are but the Gibraltar Regiment was covered by the British Army. Changed name in 1998 to Royal Gibraltar Regiment when (as I understand) it was issued a 'new metal' badge.

Jamaican Defence Corps definitely not administered during A/A era.

CHRIS, Can you confirm if "FIRMIN" have produced a R.L.C. in a/a?? I have not seen one but I have been told that the one I may try to buy is a RLC in a/a by FIRMIN.

I just have in my notes London Badge & Button Co Ltd and Toye, Kenning & Spencer. If it is by Firmin it will probably just be marked 'FIRMIN';

Expect this might create some excitement, or at least some scepticism, but there is a Tudor Crown (KC) Parachute Regiment in my collection, marked "Firmin London".

Can't presently remember where it came from, but have had it for abt fifteen years.

Images attached. Not very good pics, I know, but am travelling & prob will not see UK for some months, so can't currently improve on them.

Shall I keep it, or throw it out with the trash?

Its a piece of junk with a dodgy Firmin mark added after the slider was attached to the badge body.

No doubt someone will desire it though...

Do you remember who sold it to you? By following the trail back throught the previous owners you can find out who the crook was who had these badges made to rip of genuine collectors.

I'm sure you are right. A lot of people think these are the Norfolk Yeomanry and I have photos of the original artwork in files somewhere to show that the Norfolk Yeomanry were a lot wider.

Will post them when I get to them.

Chris, Still no joy on these badges? I started a thread to id the badge but nothing yet.
I have seen one of these worn by the Queen's Bentley driver on the Diamond Jubilee but could not make out if it was gold or sivler A/A badge.

Hi Jerry,
I have the gold anodised version of this badge which incidentally has a very early Smith & Wright slider on the rear. I believe that the gold version was something to do with Museum staff - not nowadays though I doubt. Like you, I would guess it was utilised by several 'Home Office/Governmental/civil service' type posts.

The Norfolk Yeomanry - as you state - is wider and more 'squat' in shape. Mine has a HW Timings slider. A reasonably uncommon anodised cap badge.
