2019 has probably been my best year collecting wise.
Two of my friends both decided to sell their collections and I was fortunate to have the pick of both collections. I was also able to find few scarce badges that I have been looking for and my bargain of the year was a LRDG Officer's cap. Seasons greetings to all on the forum and best wishes for 2020 Keith

Some great finds and Jack your AFC and CFS items must be pretty thin on the ground. In all my years collecting British badges in Australia I have come across quite a bit of Australian militaria of course but never such items to buy. Mate at works grandfather AFC gallantry set name Bugden closest and friends grandfather ALH DCM and trio but just for gazing at.
All the best, Dean.

Yes both with family’s Jack and yes was a VC and went on what they said at the time as being AFC. I think the DCM was an MM now that I put my mind to it Israel. Helped family frame his portrait and had cap and maps etc. cheers Dean

Whilst Ive had a quiet year generally I have however picked up a couple of gems.
1 a type 1 Rising Sun collar badge, the one with 7 small triangles that make up the rays of the sun and the word "Australia" 2 whilst not a badge but a medal, a QSA to the Scottish Horse, although not to an Aussie, it has no suspension or bars, but still a nice item. Research to follow. This was a Christmas present from a mate. Regards Phil. |

New addition to my Stone Staffordshire Collection
I have been given by an old School pall, medals badges POW Dog Tags and associated ephemera to Reg Banks Royal Signals who served in North Africa and was taken POW in Greece 1944.
Documents and photographs include birth and Death certificates and his Grammar School reports from Stone, I already had his wife’s uncle WW1 war medal to Staffs Yeomanry in my collection. A great addition to my local history collection see link below Regards to all and a happy new year Stephen https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...ad.php?t=65338 Last edited by yorkstone; 01-01-20 at 01:45 PM. |

These two 27th Lancers officers embroidered badges were a most fortunate purchase in 2019.
The red backed example (note the excess of material) is a beret adorned badge and the khaki backed version worn on the field service cap. Also, an Indian made 25th Dragoons ORs with the ‘EDEN 43’ mark stamped on the slider, plus a left facing 26th Hussars “combo” collar cum officers coloured slip-on shoulder title device - the combination variant being a first pattern badge with the second pattern scroll instead of the tablet. And lastly, the medal group, documents, photographs, etc, to the CO of the 26th Hussars, Lt. Col. J. B. Norton. Have a very Happy New Year and all the best for finding your desired badges in 2020.
