West Kent Yeomanry Question

Would the East Kent Yeomanry badge, KK 1438 - the one with the rearing horse in a garter surmounted by the K/C - be right in gilding metal?

KK states in bronze (bronzed brass) and blackened finish, but does not mention plain brass/gilding.

Any comment on the gilding metal example below:

Hi Mark,

Very nice badge. I prefer that type with the much better defined and anatomically correct horses face.

If memory serves the badge is mentioned in Gaylor as also being in GM.

I’ve an example with original factory finish/plating on which makes me think at least some were intended for wear as GM badges. Other options are unfinished badges or ones that’ve been chemically stripped of their bronzing.

Possibly the brass ones are issued ones by the WD and the bronzed ones are pre war Yeomanry sourced.

I've just pulled my heavily annotated copy of Gaylor, a reference I have overlooked of late, and you are absolutely correct Luke he does say 'in brass and also bronze'. I should have looked there first.

I appreciate the theories on the reasons for it being in gilding gents and now feel assured that it is the real deal whatever the reasons for issue.

I do have an officers version somewhere its silver with the I INVICTA legend in gilt
will try and take some photos
