1 Scorpion Regt RAC
A rare sign worn, variously, by 41 RTR when it became 1 Scorpion Regt RAC and which later became the experimental 1 Assault Regt RAC/RE and finally 1 Armd Engr Regt RE. The sign was adopted by 1 Scorpion Regt RAC on 3 Feb 43 and issued for wear 3 Apr 43. The scorpion was adopted because the first mine clearance tank employed by Eighth Army was the Matilda Scorpion flail, three Troops of which fought at the battle of El Alamein. The photograph is unfortunately neither captioned nor dated.

Mike, very nice badge. Would this have been made overseas or in England at the time?
Best Jack
