Uniform - Brigadier - Comander of the 2nd Armoured Brigade
Brigadier H. H. Hamer, commander of C.M.F. 2nd Armoured Brigade and Brigadier D. McArthur-Onslow (Commander of the 1st Armoured Brigade) studying a map before helicopter takes off - circa 1950s
The 1st Armoured Brigade was a New South Wales based Citizen Military Forces (CMF) formation, originally comprising the 1st Royal New South Wales Lancers, 6th New South Wales Mounted Rifles and 12th/16th Hunter River Lancers. The Brigade existed during the 1950s. Their formation sign was based upon that used by 4th Armoured Brigade during the Second World War. The 2nd Armoured Brigade was a Victorian based Citizen Military Forces (CMF) formation, originally comprising 4th/19th Prince of Wales Light Horse Regiment, and 8th/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles. The Brigade existed during the 1950s. Their formation sign was based upon that used by 1st Australian Armoured Division during the Second World War. Source: State Library of Victoria Mick |

Nice ones, Mick -- and hard to find, even in photos! I've got a 1950s battledress jacket with a pair of 2nd Armd Bde patches and Royal Australian Artillery titles. I suspect it belonged to someone in 22nd Field Regt, the unit that used the Yeramba SP gun, but that may be just wishful thinking on my part!

They are very hard to find (both 1st and 2nd Armoured Brigade!) on uniforms.
I also have a 1st Armoured Regiment uniform but with the 1st Infantry Brigade group formation patch! Mick |
