1934 & 2067 Squadrons, Air Training Corps
Can anyone give a positive I'D to which ATC Squadrons carried the numbers 1934 and 2067? I think 2067 is likely to be around the Kingswood area in Surrey.

Thanks for that Peter but its only a list of current Squadrons. My two are long disbanded.
Letters to HQ Air Cadets have been totally ignored. |

SAS,
Sorry, I think there is a list on line that includes all squadrons ( current and disbanded ) but I cannot remember its name. Peter

Hi. My listing gives 1934 as 4th Plymouth. Formed 2/4/42. No date for disbandment. 2067 is listed as 5th Derby. Formed 12/1/43. Absorbed by 126 squadron (1st Derby) 28/10/46.
Hope that helps. Andrew. |

Thank you that's fantastic, but throws up a query. I have a number of wartime shoulder badges showing the Squadron number (hence the query over 1934 Squadron). But I have what might be a unique patch (see photo) showing two Squadron numbers - 2002 and 2067. I have 2002 as Kingswood, which I thought was in Surrey, while you note 2067 is in Derby. I thought he might have been an NCO serving two town Squadrons but Derby and Surrey makes that unlikely. What do you have (if anything) for 2002 Squadron? There does appear to be a Kingswood closer to Sheffield which would be more likely though of course. I only collect WW2 era shoulder badges and many are now defunct making it very hard to track them down. Would it be possible to have a copy of the list you refer to? Also, a question I've wanted to try and find an answer to is what number was the last wartime Squadron (or as near as?). |

Hi SAS1.
Never seen a double numbered squadron patch before! Unfortunately my source ( a hand written squadron book photocopied in full and sent to me in Abu Dhabi by HQ air cadets back in the 90's ) does not reveal the id of 2002 I'm afraid. Obviously I struck lucky with whoever handled my request back then! As for the last squadron of ww2, that appears to be 2157 Mitcham which was formed 7/5/45. 2158 forming 7/4/46 at Borough Green. Sorry I couldn't help with 2002. Regards, Andrew. |

Is it known if 2424 Langley and 2477 Britwell Squadrons still exist? Is there a list of squadrons that no longer exist? Regards, Paul.

Its the only one I've seen and must have been almost unique even then. I can only assume it was worn, probably by an NCO who covered both Squadrons. Thanks very much for your confirmation of the last WW2 Squadron, that's very helpful. So 2168 (Yeadon) Squadron would be post war. Do you have anything re date? Wardog - 2424 Squadron is Langley and 2477 is Britwell, both in slough, Berkshire. |

Yes- I can find a recent mention of Britwell but not of Langley- they are not in the linked squadron list. I'm ex 153 Slough. Regards, Paul.
