Epaulette slip on: 44th Royal Tank Regiment

An epaulette slip on badged to a Major of the 44th Royal Tank Regiment, with the Eight Army Crusader Shield. The collector who was the previous owner had added a carboard label,with a date: 2.3.44 I do not make much out of it, since in March 1944 the 44th RTR had already left the Eight Army and was sent to the UK in order to prepare for the Normandy landings ...

It looks like a period label and could be the date the collector acquired it.
