Canadian Badge - identification help
Hi all,
I am looking into an ancestor of mine who looks to have served in the Canadian forces. I have attached a couple of photos of him, admittedly they are photos of photocopies as I no longer have the originals, so not the greatest quality. I can see the cap badge has a little point at the top left and some space in the middle but having looked at hundreds of Canadian badges I cannot find one that seems to match. He arrived in Canada in 1928, and was born in 1882 in England so my guess is a reservist unit? He died in Indian Head, SK but I do remember it being mentioned that he served in British Columbia - though how true this is I do not know. Any pointers as to uniform/badge/time frame would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Lewis |

The unit he is in was called the Veterans Guards. They were mostly First World War vets and not the top category for front line duty, they were organized to fulfill certain duties in Canada. That included guarding vulnerable or strategic points and prisoner of war camps.

Bill, thanks so much for your help. His gravestone says he was a private in the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers before he emigrated so plenty to look into!
