Default Today's offering for a chuckle

Here's one you Motto Collectors should be fighting over.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lovely-Th...53.m1438.l2649

The brain box boggles yet again.

You have to laugh though.......................no probably not.

Regards.

I don't know, this seems appropriate in these times:

Are all sellers' badges fake?

I am a button collector. I am not collecting badges and I have no knowledge.
If all are fakes then you badge collectors have a very difficult hobby.

As far as buttons are concerned, I do buy duds occasionally despite many years of collecting.

Not all this sellers badges are fake, you have to sort "the wheat from that chaff" as the saying goes. For example he recently sold a really nice 2nd pattern Royal Armoured Corps officers hallmarked silver cap badge for a really reasonable (in my opinion) price - he never even thought to mention that it was hallmarked silver in either the item title or description despite clearly showing pictured of the hallmark !
By the same token he sells some real tat (for example the infamous Middlesex Footballers Battalion badge) - which people still, inexplicably, pay big money for !

Ok I have to be honest, I got caught with this exact badge about 35 years ago! A lot of money for a collar dog! I like to think I’ve learnt a bit since then, but still get caught!!

This is still the ‘Ron’ collection being sold by the guy who until recently used to describe each badge as ‘Lovely Old School... cap badge’.

Discussed on page 2 of this thread: https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/fo...lection&page=2

As Nozzer said a lot of fakes but a few nice pieces which were mostly had before hitting eBay.

Thumbs down

This badge, it does not deserve the title of a motto, came up for discussion on the forum a while ago, as I remember it, it was in the badges for identification at the top of the home page, and was "severely dealt with".

What a piece of rubbish and an insult to the Motto.

For the Aussie collectors, "Not happy Jan" !

Regards

Phil.

I find the most annoying listings on TheBay...
"genuine WW2 cap badge".....

with a QC!!

Items clearly stamped with 1965 (jackets) being sold as WW2 original items....best go back to school and find out when the war actually ended!

p.s. it has ended hasn't it? news is a bit slow here in Spain!

keep smiling....

Larffin me nuts orf.

And as Paul eludes to in post 6, he does have the occasional gem in his stuff and for anybody that's interested, he has, in my opinion, a very nice Essex Economy on offer at a silly price.

Luke: hopefully one day Ron's collection will be all gone.................to the dump.

Regards.

The 2nd Bn Royal Scots badge is of interesting construction, some kind of bi metal fake / repro / copy with a central backing plate sandwiching the green fabric against the St Andrew design and held in place by nut and screw thread.
It seems a bit over the top for a simple fake or repro job - a commission for an organisation like old comrades, a civilian pipe band?

Cool The motto is . . !

Well, for all the comments I think 27 people were watching, 8 bids and this piece of fantasy made £38.00.

If only I could build up a following like he's got, we'd be millionaires
