Unknown naval shoulder strap
Hi All
Can anyone ID this please? Not sure if it is military or civvie. Looks like an 'M' over an anchor with a single strip. Thanks, cheers, Alex |

Maybe Marconi radio operators?

Unknown naval shoulder strap
Hi Alex
There's some info on Marconi Radio Operators during the First World War here: www.marconiheritage.org/fww.html. No information on uniforms or insignia I'm afraid. Pete

Seems unlikely that this is a Marconi operator. My gut feeling is that the tapered design would more likely be European in origin.
Thanks, cheers, Alex |

I have a feeling that it may have a Monaco connection. I recall the Monaco Police Marine Section wearing similar epaulettes when I visited there in the 1980's, except that the "M" was in red embroidered thread. Yours may be an earlier version.
