Rev:Nike advancing left in flowing gown holding wreath and trophy. Hendin 750. A case of reflective glory for his relatives exploits. Caesaria Maritima an important coastal city in Judea known to have struck Judea Captor coins for both Vespacian and Titus to celebrate the destruction of the second Jewish Temple in 70AD. |

Let me be clear I do not own this coin after doing the research was outbid at last moment, offered it to seller got no response. Ob: Laureate & draped bust of Caracalla on left confronted by bare headed draped bust of Geta. GETAC KAI AYT KM AV ANTONEININOC KAI P CEP. Rev: Agonistic table with two victory crowns woven from laurel leaves gathered from the vale of Tempe in Thessaly. Between them two palm fronds in a lekythos with cord attached. Below the table five apples and an oil amphora, note the lions paw feet on table legs. AKITA (Games celebrating Battle of Actium). PYTHIA (Pythian games dedicated to Apollo). PHILADELTHEIA PERINTHION with NEWKORWN below. The last being an honorary title granted to the above two cities both of which had dedicated a temple to the cult of the Emperor. IMO some tooling work has been done on both profiles. VARB 293 for similar. |
