Metropolitan Police mystery cap or helmet badge?
http://www.buywyze.com/viewphoto.php...1005313&phqu=1
Hello everyone, An unusual? Metropolitan Police headdress badge? It looks to measure approx 9cm from top to bottom, a few centimetres shorter than a standard QC helmet badge, much bigger than an officers cap badge. Buywyze describe the badge as having a Firmin marked slider. The crown is much smaller, relative to the star, than a standard helmet badge too. Has anybody got any idea who would have worn this badge and on what, please? Many thanks in advance, Phil

Hi Phil
I believe this was worn on the 'Noddy' motorcycle helmet, a squat version of the standard helmet before 'proper' bike helmets were adopted. Not sure of dates, when I find my copy of 'Badges of Office' I'll see what they say. Best Graham

Thanks Graham,
That would be a great result, I bought the badge on the off chance that it was something like that. The slider is a little odd for a helmet, it must have been very hard to get through. Cheers mate, Phil
