Default Borough of Newcastle under Lyme

A recent find Borough of Newcastle under Lyme Helmet Plate. although I am collector of Military badges I have been looking for one of these for some time
it came with a couple of N/B buttons one white metal the other chromed.

it also appears to have been re crowned from Victorian to Kings which I am advised is common practice items in the group image came with it.

thought I would share this image of an uncommon badge.

Stephen

Hi Stephen

Nice badge, thank you for sharing it. A similar plate appears in “Badges of Office”: although the reverse is not visible the KC on that one, as yours, looks slightly too big (possibly due to the use of ‘stock’ replacement crowns originally destined for military badges?). The later chrome badge (Pl.30/B/2) was presumably manufactured in one piece and the KC looks slightly smaller and more in proportion with the rest of the badge.

Regards

Graham
